Twist pile Twist pile carpets are one of the most popular types of carpets available, and a full range of them can be seen at Milners. This type of carpet often consists of 80% wool and 20% man-made fibres although you can get 100% wool or 100% man-made fibres. These carpets are mostly plain or a heathered effect, which are very good at concealing general soiling. These carpets are very hard wearing and versatile for all areas of the house. Twist pile carpets come in different weights, generally the heavier the weight, the harder wearing the carpet.

You can usually get the same colour in different weights, enabling you to use the heavier carpet in the higher wear areas and the lighter carpet to be used in lighter wear areas (for example, bedrooms). This is very cost effective but there can be a slight colour variation between the different weights of carpet. The twist pile is also one of the best carpets to join so they are less noticeable.

The only characteristic you need to be aware of in this carpet, as with all carpets, is that the pile will flatten slightly in the heavy wear areas. Vacuuming will help this but will not correct it in the long term. Twist pile carpets generally clean very easily.
